Is pasteurizing milk for calves going to pay back?

RE: Pasteurizer 3/31/2009
"Calves fed pasteurized milk grossed an extra $8.13/head and attributed to reduced health complications and treatment costs when compared with calves fed unpasteurized milk. The researchers calculated that 315 calves (from
a dairy of approximately 1,260 cows) would need to be fed daily to make pasteurization economically feasible." (http://www.goodnature.com/Calf_Milk_Pasteurizers/More_Information/pdf/Feeding%20waste%20Milk%20to%20Dairy%20calves.pdf)

One thing you might try is a good quality milk replacer, my calves have consistently done better and there is no risk of feeding risk (waste) milk to my replacement heifers. Don't forget the maintanance cost of a piece of equipment like that.
